Christmas Kindness

Our Student Council officers, accompanied by their teacher representatives and Mr. Hayes, visited area nursing homes to share a little Christmas kindness. Gilbert Gators collected various items over a week for nursing home patients. We collected toiletries, candy, puzzle books, house shoes, and socks to name a few. A great time was had by all!

Character Cafe Congratulations

Gilbert's character trait for December is kindness. Wikipedia defines kindness as the act or the state of charitable behavior to other people. What a wonderful word for this time of year! Our Student Council chose to show kindness by collecting items for area nursing homes. The officers asked students to bring in items such as shampoo, conditioner, lotions, house shoes, warm socks, puzzle books, etc. Gilbert gators responded by bringing more than five large boxes of items to be delivered on Monday, December 15th. We are so proud of everyone for showing their kindness by helping our community. Way to go everyone!

Arrested for a good cause?

Every year, the Muscular Distrophy Association sponsors the MDA Lock-Up to help raise money for "Jerry's Kids." The money raised goes towards sending children to the MDA Summer Camp, buy wheelchairs, fund research, and a host of other MDA activities.
Participants have warrants issued for their arrest and then have to raise bail (donations), before their court date.

This year two Gilbert employees will be arrested for "good"! On Thursday, December 4, Mr. Hayes and Mrs. Ballard will be escorted to the Ivy Cottage where they will enjoy a "last meal". Hopefully, our Gators will help raise enough bail money (donations) to get out of "jail". If you would like to help, drop by the office for further information.

Uh-oh, this can't be good...

Oh, man!

Just get in the car, Mr. Hayes!

Mr. Hayes and Mrs. Ballard raised $230
for MDA by participating in this Lock Up Event.
Thanks for being such a good sport, you two!

SNOW?

Gilbert Gators Enjoy Season's First Snow!

Who knew Mondays could be SO exciting? Students and teachers alike could not hide their excitement over the season's first snow. We couldn't resist taking students out for a brief moment to experience the snow first hand. The snow made for some interesting science discussions and sparked a lot of creative writing during Writer's Workshop!
