Good luck!

Good luck to our Spelling Bee winners as they travel to
LaFayette High on Friday to compete in the county Spelling Bee!

Gilbert Honor Society

The Gilbert Honor Society will meet after school this Wednesday (February 2nd). We will discuss a partnership with the School Council to complete our February service project. We will finish and be in the gym for pick up at 3:15. Please make your pick-up arrangements ahead of time as you will not be allowed to call home the day of the meeting.

Due to time constraints and missed days of school, we've decide to cancel our elections for officers. The advising committee will meet to appoint students to those positions based on the information submitted in students' membership applications. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Gilbert Elementary School is once again "going green". In an effort to reduce waste and recycle paper, notices for meeting will no longer be sent home with students. Please be sure to check the blog for meeting dates.

Our club is responsible for recycling ink cartridges. Please help by sending in your empty printer ink cartridges. Students should spread the word to family and friends - Save those ink cartridges!

Shout Out to Mrs. Sandow!

Inclement Weather Make Up Announcement

Walker County Schools Inclement Weather Makeup Schedule For Students

All schools in the Walker County System have built in additional daily instructional time well above the minimum required by the State Department of Education for students. Based on the additional time built into the schedules, no makeup days would be required for students at this time. However, out of an abundance of concern for students preparing for the state exams in the spring, the Walker County School System announces the following changes to the calendar for students.

February 21 Presidents Day Holiday becomes a student makeup day.

March 11 Current in-service day becomes a student makeup day.

Spring Break will not be utilized for student or staff makeup days.

Make up day schedules for employees due to inclement weather will follow.
