Jerry Bowman, Mime

On Friday, Gilbert students were treated to a visit from the Mime Man, Jerry Bowman as a treat for working diligently and doing our best on the CRCT. Children were actively engaged with pulling a rope, working their way out of a box, or bouncing an imaginary ball. The students in grades P-5 loved his presentation. He had so much to offer his audience from a description of his art form, to instruction on its use, necessary props and make-up, and short vignettes for our viewing pleasure. The first grade students went back and quickly wrote thank you letters to Mr. Bowman. Several of the students said they would like to study mime. Below you will see some photos of Mr. Bowman working with our kids.

Jerry is showing our students how to do three basic mime routines prior to applying his makeup and performance. This is our attempt at the wall.

Looks like a real rope to me.

He applies his makeup while answering questions from our students.

Maddison Pettigrew, Isaiah Harris and Elijah Mann pose with Mr. Bowman after the show.

The first grade ladies loved the mime show. Amanda Higdon, Rhonda Epperson, Sarah Eager and Dianne Richardson.
