As The Gilbert Singing Gators prepared for their student body performance of their Christmas program on December 11th an unexpected visitor showed up. Can you guess who that might be? Chase Hughes, a kindergarten student in Mrs. Angie Meeks' class invited this special guest to bring good cheer to his entire class. As a treat for the others in the building Santa made the decision to remain for our chorus performance and hand out candy to the students after the show.
Each year the Hughes family turn their home on Cavender Street into a setting that rivals the North Pole. John Hughes dresses the part of Father Christmas and along with his helpers and Mrs. Claus he invites all the children in the area to come and take pictures with him as he sits in his winter wonderland. According to Mr. Hughes, "this allows those families who cannot afford to pay for Christmas photos with Santa the opportunity to take them for free. Officer Terry Hambrick expressed his appreciation for such as wonderful gift to the community.
