YAFFYS?

Move over HOLLYWOOD!
Gilbert's rolling out a Red Carpet event of our own!

Our school recently celebrated the culmination of this year's writing competition. The Young Author's Fair For You (YAFFY) is an annual event in which students' writing samples are chosen by teachers and submitted to the committee twice during the school year. The committee chooses the top three entries per grade level and awards the winners with certificates. The final winning entries are chosen from these samples.

This year the theme was set as a formal affair.  Each member of the committee as well as most of the faculty and students dressed in their formal best for the day.  All classes were called to the gym and the red carpet was rolled out for the winners.  The crowns were made, the plaques were ordered, the sashes were created, decorations were set up on the tables for a ceremony that took place afterward for the winners. These ladies work very hard to get this even ready each year.  Excellent job Gilbert YAFFY committee.  We can't wait for next year!!
