CRCT Week is HERE!
CRCT Testing week is here! Thanks to our Pep Rally on Friday, we are READY!
Students and faculty gathered in the gym Friday afternoon to get ourselves pumped and excited about next week! LHS band members were on hand to pump up the crowd! Our MC of the event was Mrs. Scott. She kept things moving! Gilbert's Gator girls (Singletary, Massey, Wallin, Hodge, and Neal) led students in cheers. The drama team (Wright, Burnette, Rogers, Quinn, Brooks, Richardson, and Epperson) performed skits of testing dos and don'ts. Third through fifth graders wrote their testing pledges on paper links. We combined those into chains, which are on display in the halls. Thank you, Mr. Harris for getting students excited about "showing" what they know! We know our students are ready to do their BEST!

What is the CRCT?
Why do we have to take it?
Some of
you may be wondering the purpose of this test. The
CRCT is designed to measure how well students acquire the skills and knowledge
described in the Georgia Performance Standards. The assessments yield information
on academic achievement at the student, class, school, system, and state
levels. This information is used to diagnose individual student strengths and
weaknesses as related to the instruction of the CCGPS, and to gauge the
quality of education throughout Georgia.
Testing begins on Monday! The schedule for the week is as follows:
- Monday - Reading
- Tuesday - English/ Language Arts
- Wednesday - Mathematics
- Thursday - Science
- Friday - Social Studies
- Be sure to go to bed at a decent time. Don't stay up late! You need at least 8-10 hours of rest each night. Well rested students do better on tests!
- Eat a good breakfast! Remember breakfast is served each day at school between 7 - 7:30. You'll do better with concentration if you're not worried about being hungry.
- Dress comfortably! Wear loose fitting clothing.
- Be on time to school each day! Testing begins promptly at 8 a.m. Late students will be held until the first session is complete.
- Do your best! Don't stress. We believe in you! You will do well!
Congrats to two of our Gilbert Gators!
Anna Valle and Anna Garcia will be recognized at Monday's Board of Education meeting. Both of these students had works of art that were chose to be displayed at the Capitol Art Show in Atlanta. Well done, girls! We are very proud of you!

Rezoning Town Hall Meeting
As many of you know, Walker County will be adding a new school next year. Due to this addition, our county will need to rezone. This process is designed to alleviate crowding in some schools as well as populate the new one. Each elementary and middle school may be affected by rezoning. To find out more information, you are invited to a Town Hall meeting on Thursday, April 4 @ 6:30. Superintendent Raines and other staff members will be on hand to handle questions and explain the process.
The new school, Saddle Ridge School, is designed for grades K-8. It is located just south of the Walker County Civic Center in Rock Spring. For more information about Saddle Ridge, visit the Walker County School site. http://www.walkerschools.org/
