Good morning! Thanks to everyone who came out to Family Fun Night last night. It was tons of fun! If you're looking for something to do today, you might want to check out the Fly-In at the airport! Here are the details!
The LaFayette-Barwick airfield fly-in is 10
a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20. This annual event affords the
public opportunities to get an up close view of flying machines —
including a LifeForce helicopter — talk to pilots and visit the new
terminal. Admission to the site is free. There will be an inflatable gym
for children, Smokey the Bear will be on hand for photographs and a
juried car show is being held at the airport, located on Gasque Drive
and adjacent the LaFayette Golf Course. In addition to flight
competitions among veteran pilots, between noon and 3 p.m. the public
can fly — for a price. Two four-seater Cessna 172 airplanes will charge
$20 per person for flights. A Robinson R44 helicopter will be on hand to
offer aerial views of the surrounding countryside. And for anyone
wishing to fulfill their Red Baron fantasy, and willing to part with
$60, a Stearman biplane will offer opportunities to experience open
cockpit flying, one passenger at a time. Proceeds from the flights and
from food vendor sales will be donated to the Stocking Full of Love
charity, which provides toys to needy children at Christmas.
