It's CRUNCH TIME!

Greetings 3rd Grade Families!

Next week is a big week for us in 3rd grade. We have the Georgia Milestone Assessment. The Georgia Milestones Assessment System (Georgia Milestones) is a comprehensive summative assessment program spanning grades 3 through high school.

Georgia Milestones measures how well students have learned the knowledge and skills outlined in the state-adopted content standards in English Language Arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.
Students in grades 3 through 8 take an end-of-grade assessment in English Language Arts and mathematics while students in grades 5 and 8 are also assessed in science and social studies.
Students in Grade 3 must past the Reading/ELA portion of this assessment in order to proceed to 4th grade. While we do not wish to stress out our students, we must convey to them how important it is for them to do their absolute best.
Testing begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. each morning. It is very important to be on time for school. Students who are late are not allowed to enter the classroom once testing has begun. They are held in the office until the first section of testing is complete. They will then join us for section 2 and will have to be pulled later in the day to make up the section missed.
The testing schedule is as follows:
  • 4-18  Milestones Writing (1 Sections)
  • 4-19  Milestones Reading/ELA (2 Sections)
  • 4-20 Milestones Math (2 Sections)
  • 4-21  Milestones Make-Up Testing

This week in each class, we are busy reviewing content and taking practice tests to help students become more familiar with the assessment. They are required to take the Milestone online. Thus, we are spending time familiarizing students with the tools available for them to use, sharing testing tips to help alleviate anxiety, and discussing good study habits.
We have work diligently throughout the school year to prepare you children for fourth grade. We believe they are ready. We believe they can "show what they know" and exceed our expectations.
